Athens, one of Europe’s oldest cities invites us on a journey through space and time, a tour of yesterday and today and narrates to us a 6.000 year history of people, monuments, roads, neighborhoods, flavors, smells and colors. A destination to be cherished all year around, so much to discover!
- City stories 6.000 years old!
Our program includes:
The amazing new Acropolis Museum, designed by the architects B. Tschumi and M.Fotiadis, opened for the public in 2009. A guided tour reveals one of the best museums in the world devoted to the Parthenon and its surrounding temples.
In the shadow of Acropolis hill, expands the 6.000 year old neighborhood of ‘Plaka’, including the Ancient Agora (market) and so many interesting monuments, houses, alleys and yards, linked to Greek history. We end our tour at ‘Monastiraki’ square, bustling with people, colors, food, little shops and many photo opportunities.
Also known as the ‘Hill of the Muses’ with wooded slopes and footpaths, the hill adjacent to Acropolis hosts ‘Pnyka’, the site that was the official meeting place of the Athenian democratic assembly. The ‘open parliament’ in the era of creation of Democracy!
