Chora or Mesaria, the capital of Kythnos, was built amphitheatrically on a slope of a hill, in the 17th century.

What it’s worth to see: The church of Agios Savas dating back to 1613, the church of the Savior with the 17th century iconostasis, the church of the Holy Trinity which is the oldest on the island and the Cathedral of Chora. Also, the post-Byzantine church “Virgin Mary of Nikous”, built on the ruins of ancient temples.
